Vaughn P

Vaughan P is a budding health scientist. Coming from a township in the west of Pretoria, Vaughan had decided that education would be his “way out”. His love for the human body and health saw him enrolled to the University of the Witwatersrand for Bsc in human anatomy and physiology, which he completed and further studied for BHsc (Hon) in Forensic sciences where his love for academia grew stronger and he decided to take up teaching and research. This saw him register for his MSc (Med) in anatomy and start his lecturing career at the University of the Witwatersrand medical school. Upon completion of this degree, Vaughan had established himself as a member of the lecturing staff in the department of anatomy with his research focus on non-communicable diseases faced by our socioeconomically disadvantage communities such as fetal alcohol syndrome. His work in this field saw him win an award at the 45th Annual conference of the Anatomical Society of Southern Africa. He currently continues his research on non-communicable disease at Sefako health sciences University (former Medunsa) where he holds a lecturing position in the department of Anatomy. His love for education and career development has seen him host a feature show on a local radio station in a West-rand township of Johannesburg Kagiso, Mogale fm titled “Ubuntu education”. This would re-spark his love of radio and later saw him host a Christian show titled “The Real” on a digital radio platform called Masala Worldwide. He then later had a feature show on TransAfrica Radio called “Ask Uncle Perry” where listeners sent through question and they worked through issues together. He currently has a Sunday feature show on Mzansi digital radio titled “Couch Sessions with Perry” where he helps listeners navigate their romantic lives.
